Saving the Planet with the Use of Spa Cap Spa Covers

It must have been a recurring problem owning a spa and having to replace the cover every time it got heavy. You should keep up with buying the replacement hot tub covers otherwise it will be a burden having to lift up the heavy cover when you are about to use it. Doing this everyday is already very stressful because you regard yourself as a frequent user. As time goes on, the excitement of owning one for the first time has already taken its toll. It already came to a point when you don’t want to use your spa anymore.

If you can just imagine the amount of rigid foam spa covers that are thrown away every year will make you wonder if there ever will be a spa cover that will be developed doing away with this waste. It is a pity filling up the landfills with all this broken spa covers when manufacturers can re-design spa covers with the use of other materials and eliminating excess waste. Surely you wouldn’t want to spend your money on another one similar to what you have bought time and time again?

Nowadays, spa cap spa covers were designed to help with the global concern of going green by eliminating waste and saving energy. They have manufactured new spa covers avoiding the use of rigid foam that will get saturated with water. The new spa cover is filled with air that will aid in the insulation of the spa and maintains the warm temperature of the water. This helps in reducing the amount of energy used in maintaining the heat of the spa. There will be no more wasted rigid foam material that will be thrown away in the landfills, saving our resources in the expense of using the material.

Buying SpaCap spa covers gives you the benefit of warm water therapy every time you need it after a hard day’s work. There is warm water when you are ready to use it because the spa cover insulates the water making it warm all the time. It is a comfort when you find yourself relaxing at the spa, feeling your tired muscles released from the tension and stress of the day. Aside from that, it still works in keeping the spa from falling debris and other dirt that goes into it. It also keeps the spa clean always without having to worry about being blown by the wind because it is kept securely on the sides.

Much money is saved when buying quality spa cap cover for your spa. Aside from reducing energy costs, it eliminates constant purchase of easily broken rigid foam covers, avoiding frequent throwing away of these broken covers and eliminating costs of visiting  spa in expensive salons because you get to enjoy it just in the comfort of your own home.

Whilst winter skin may be an absolute nightmare, summer skin can also cause you plenty of problems too. There is the added worry of wearing sun tan lotion, and protection against premature ageing is also needed now. So how exactly do you handle the problems which summer can throw at you?

The Joy of Summer
Summer no doubt makes us happier. However, for the body it is simply just another season which it has to survive. Whilst winter may be a problem for dry skin, summer is a problem for oily skin! Rashes sunburn and infections are also common problems that summer brings with it.

Warm weather also attracts various insects and as we spend so much of our time outdoors, insect bites are often quite common. The problems really are endless and sometimes summer can seem more like a chore than a time to relax and enjoy the sun! Luckily there are a variety of ways in which we can protect our skin; it is all a matter of preparing the body!

How to Care For Summer Skin
There are literally loads of things you can do to help your skin in summer. The most obvious one is sun tan lotion. Our skin is more likely to get burned in summer and sunburn can not only be painful, but it can also be quite serious too. Skin cancer is a very big risk is summer and so a high level sun protection factor is essential, especially for people with fair skin and freckles. It is recommended that you use a sun protection factor of at least 18 and really for fair skin it should be even higher. Also, make sure that you are spreading enough onto the body and pat it into the body rather than wiping it on.

Other things you can do to help your summer skin include:

Changing Your Products

Just as you would change your products in winter if you have dry skin, changing your products in summer is also essential if you suffer from oily skin. Soap free cleansers are good to use and followed on by an alcohol free toner should help to keep the skin clean and fresh. These kinds of products help to ensure that you clean your face without removing all of the skins oils, and they also will not cause any irritation.

Changing your moisturizer is also important as you will now need a much lighter one than you did in the winter. It is essential to choose one which is oil free which usually has silicone or glycerine based ingredients in them.

Do Not Overdo it With the Exfoliator

Exfoliating may be really tempting in summer as more skin is often on show, however, it is possible to overdo it and damage the skin. You can still exfoliate on the knees and on the elbows, but exfoliating the face should definitely be avoided. If you do exfoliate the face it can cause microtears in the skin which lead to uneven pigmentation once exposed to the sun.

If you do want a gentler exfoliator, a cleanser or a moisturizer with alpha hydroxy acid such as Glycolic or Lactic acid, will gently exfoliate the skin and improve the texture and tone of the skin.
Making sure you dry off completely after bathing or having a shower is also important, as is keeping an insect repellent close by!

Overall, if you do follow the above tips, you should be able to get through summer with no real problems. Remembering to protect the skin from sunburn is the most essential tip to follow. Sunburn not only hurts, but it can also cause premature ageing as well as skin cancer. Always make sure that the foundation you wear also has an SPF of at least 15 and remember, if you have oily skin stay away from oil based products!

The Florida Keys!

May 3rd, 2010 Posted in Uncategorized

Not only is it a vacation destination, offering a warm respite for seasonal snowbirds ~ but it’s also a unique place where we strive to maintain a delicate balance between our human occupancy and the incredible nature that surrounds us.

The Keys are known for the only living coral reef in the continental United States, and people flock yearly to explore this increasingly endangered rarity that sits off our Atlantic shore. One can’t be a part of such awe-inspiring surroundings and not be aware of the precious gift that has been bestowed upon us. Enveloped in such beauty tends to tune you into nature’s fragility ~ and that which threatens our natural world.

It is with this appreciation, admiration and concern for this gift that we offer many of our unique products. We feature a wonderful selection of Laville frames made from recycled tin and wood, reclaimed from old southern homes. And our selection of cutting boards are made from the more abundant bamboo instead of maple. We prefer natural and handmade home furnishings. But we also carry other manufactured products that fit the essence of the laid back, Florida Keys lifestyle.

See ~ living here in the Florida Keys, we never really pack away our patio, deck and summer supplies at season’s end like most ~ unless a hurricane threatens! We enjoy temperate weather here most days of the year. Admittedly, we enjoy an occasional cool front ~ especially around the holidays ~ but it’s usually just a matter of days before we’re back outdoors soaking’ up the sun!

So ~ if you ever find yourself escaping the frigid climes of the north, or on a summer road trip that ventures down south our way, we hope you’ll stop in to visit us.

No real directions are needed ~ US 1 is pretty much the only road in and out of the Keys and runs the full 100 plus miles to Key West. Finding most any place along the way is just a matter of knowing the mile marker. That’s what the M.M. in our address refers to ~ we are at Mile Marker 82.2 ~ that means we’re 82.2 miles from the end of US 1 at the southernmost point of the United States in Key West.

Yes, life is pretty much that simple here in the Florida Keys ~ or perhaps we should say ~ down to earth.

Oh, and about summer ~ it does work as part our name in that it’s summer-like most of the year ~ but Down to Earth is owned by Summer!
